AC Milan new manager Ruben Amorim confirms Samuel Chukwueze’s stay
AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze remains part of his plans for the upcoming season, putting an end to growing speculation over the winger’s future at the Italian giants.
Following weeks of uncertainty surrounding Chukwueze’s status after his loan spell in England, Amorim has made it clear that the Super Eagles star will continue with the Rossoneri as he prepares his squad for the new campaign.
The Portuguese tactician highlighted Chukwueze’s exceptional dribbling ability and believes the 26-year-old possesses qualities that are difficult to find in modern football.
“Chukwueze will stay with us because he’s one against one and I think we need players that can go one-on-one.”
Amorim also praised the versatility within his squad, explaining that players capable of adapting to different tactical systems will play an important role throughout the season.
“I think players like Musa and Chukwueze have the quality to be in our squad and give us alternatives to play in different systems.”
The endorsement represents a significant boost for Chukwueze, whose future had been the subject of intense transfer speculation following his loan spell at Premier League club Fulham during the 2025/26 season.
While at Craven Cottage, the Nigerian winger showed flashes of his attacking brilliance, registering three goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. His pace, direct running and ability to beat defenders consistently made him a valuable option despite Fulham opting not to make the move permanent.
Now back at AC Milan, Chukwueze appears set for a fresh start under Amorim, who is keen to build a dynamic and flexible attacking unit capable of troubling opposition defences in multiple ways.
Known for his explosive acceleration, close control and flair in one-on-one situations, the former Villarreal star offers Milan a unique attacking dimension. Amorim’s public backing suggests the Nigerian will be given the opportunity to fight for a regular place in the team rather than being moved on during the transfer window.
For Chukwueze, the manager’s vote of confidence could prove to be the fresh motivation he needs as he looks to re-establish himself at the San Siro and play a key role in AC Milan’s ambitions for the new season.
