Clara Luvanga joins Washington Spirit in record £? transfer for women’s football

Tanzania forward Clara Luvanga has become the most expensive player in women’s football history after joining Washington Spirit from Al-Nassr for $2.3 million.

The 21-year-old’s move places her at the top of the global women’s transfer market. She surpasses Mexico international Lizbeth Ovalle, who moved for $1.5 million, and Canada forward Olivia Smith, whose transfer was worth $1.36 million.

Luvanga, a young Tanzania international, has therefore set a new benchmark for transfer fees in the women’s game with her move to Washington Spirit.
