Ronaldo’s three-goal Al Nassr display ends long wait for a treble

Cristiano Ronaldo scored three times for Al Nassr against Al Kholood to end a 908-day wait for a hat-trick, turning a frustrating first half into a landmark Saudi Pro League performance.

The Portugal captain had appeared to score twice before the interval, but both efforts were ruled out for offside by referee Khalid Al Taris. The decisions angered Ronaldo, who strongly protested as Al Nassr were denied what they believed were promising attacking moments.

Ronaldo responded after half-time, finding the net three times with goals that stood to complete an impressive comeback from the earlier disappointment.

His opening goal arrived in the 66th minute. Joao Felix supplied an excellent pass, allowing Ronaldo to finish and put Al Nassr ahead with another goal in the match.

The 40-year-old continued to threaten the Al Kholood defence and doubled his tally six minutes later. This time, he met the ball with a header in the 72nd minute to strengthen Al Nassr’s position.

Ronaldo completed his treble in the 81st minute after receiving a precise pass from Sadio Mane. He made no mistake with the opportunity, placing the ball into the net and completing a memorable night for the Al Nassr captain.

The hat-trick was Ronaldo’s first for 908 days. His previous three-goal performance came for Al Nassr against Al Wehda on 4 May 2024 in the Saudi Pro League.

The achievement ended a long period without Ronaldo scoring three times in a single match and added another notable milestone to his goalscoring record with Al Nassr.

According to the figures provided, Ronaldo’s career total has now reached 985 goals. He is therefore 15 goals away from reaching 1,000, a historic landmark he continues to approach with each appearance for the Saudi club.
