Real Madrid are set to bring Jacobo Ramon back to the club from Como next summer after deciding to activate the defender’s buy-back clause.
The move would represent the first signing of the 2026-27 season, although Ramon’s return does not guarantee that he will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the transfer window.
According to Sport, citing transfer-market expert Matteo Moretto, Real Madrid will pay less than €9m to re-sign the 21-year-old. That figure is below the amount suggested in several previous reports.
Ramon left Real Madrid for Como in July 2025, with the Italian club paying €2.5m for his services. Since then, his market value has risen steadily and is currently estimated at €45m by Transfermarkt.
Real Madrid have continued to monitor his progress since his departure and are now expected to decide whether to give him a place in the first team or sell him for a significant profit.
The club’s decision comes as it works to meet the demands of manager Jose Mourinho, who has called for reinforcements in central defence and midfield. Real Madrid officials had previously believed that signing Ibrahima Konate would be enough to strengthen the back line, but the club now appears to be acting on the Portuguese manager’s wider requirements.
Ramon has developed under Cesc Fabregas at Como, producing performances that have highlighted both his defensive ability and his contribution in attack. He has made 49 appearances for the club so far and has scored five goals.
The defender is already familiar with the demands of playing for Real Madrid. He made six appearances for the Spanish side before leaving, including a match in which he scored the winning goal against Real Mallorca in the closing stages of a difficult game during the 2024-25 season.
That goal came at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Ramon has already experienced the significance of wearing the Real Madrid shirt. His current form at Como and the sharp increase in his valuation have given the Spanish club two possible advantages.
If Real Madrid decide to retain him, they could recover a promising defender for a relatively modest fee. Alternatively, they could sell Ramon at a much higher price than the €2.5m Como paid in 2025, turning his development into a substantial financial return.
For now, the buy-back decision is considered settled, but the final verdict on Ramon’s future at Real Madrid will only be made once the summer transfer market is under way.
