Al Hilal reclaim top spot as Inzaghi records landmark win over Al-Qadsiah

Al Hilal moved back to the summit of the Roshn Saudi League with a 3-2 victory at Al-Qadsiah, a result that also ended their long wait for a league win at their opponent’s ground.

The match, played in the 11th round of the competition, delivered more than three points for Jorge Jesus’ side. It produced a series of notable milestones involving the club, head coach Simone Inzaghi and several of Al Hilal’s key players.

The win took Al Hilal to 27 points, two clear of both Al-Qadsiah and Al Nassr. Al Hilal have a game in hand, as do Al Nassr.

Al Hilal end Dammam run

Al Hilal had not won away to Al-Qadsiah in the Roshn Saudi League since 21 December 2020, when they secured a 3-1 victory.

They subsequently played twice at Al-Qadsiah in the league, losing 2-1 in their first visit and drawing 2-2 in the second. Their third trip finally brought an end to that sequence, with Al Hilal claiming victory in a five-goal contest.

Inzaghi adds Rodgers to list

The result was also Simone Inzaghi’s first victory over Al-Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers.

According to figures from Transfermarkt, the Italian has now beaten 167 different managers during his coaching career. His first meeting with Rodgers came last season and ended in a 2-2 draw.

The victory reduced to 23 the number of managers Inzaghi has faced without winning. Stefano Pioli leads that list, having beaten Inzaghi 13 times.

Quinones maintains record against Al Hilal

Al-Qadsiah forward Julian Quinones continued his impressive record against Al Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League by scoring in the latest meeting.

The Mexico international headed home in the 31st minute from a cross by team-mate Musab Al-Juwayr.

Quinones has now contributed a goal or an assist in all four of his league appearances against Al Hilal. He provided an assist in Al-Qadsiah’s 2-1 victory during the 2024-2025 season before scoring in both meetings last season, each of which finished 2-2.

Neves sets personal best

Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves also extended his scoring run against Al-Qadsiah, finding the net in three consecutive Saudi Pro League matches against the club.

It is the longest sequence of goals Neves has recorded against a single opponent in the competition.

The midfielder’s latest achievement added to an evening of individual milestones for Al Hilal, whose victory strengthened their position in the title race.
