Moroccan international Amine Adli scored a superb late goal as Bournemouth secured a convincing 3-0 victory over AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.

Adli completed the scoring in the 84th minute with a perfectly executed direct free-kick at Vitality Stadium, capping a difficult evening for the Italian visitors, who played much of the match with 10 men following the dismissal of goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The result lifted Bournemouth to nine points from their opening three matches in the league phase, while Milan remained on three points in 24th place.

Maignan red card compounds Milan’s problems

Bournemouth made a strong start and took the lead in the eighth minute when Justin Kluivert converted a penalty awarded after a handball by Milan defender Connie D. Winter, following a review by the video assistant referee.

Milan’s task became more difficult in the 27th minute when Maignan received a straight red card for an incident involving Tyler Adams as the teams prepared for a corner.

The dismissal left the visitors with 10 players and forced them to continue the contest at a numerical disadvantage.

Bournemouth capitalised on the situation, with Marcos Tavernier converting a second penalty in the 32nd minute to double the hosts’ advantage.

Adli seals Bournemouth’s emphatic victory

Milan struggled to recover from the early setbacks, while Bournemouth continued to threaten as the match progressed.

Adli then delivered the decisive moment in the 84th minute, sending a direct free-kick into the net to make it 3-0 and seal an impressive victory for the English side.

The Moroccan forward’s goal added to Bournemouth’s commanding performance and underlined his contribution on a night when Milan were left frustrated by the dismissal and the two penalties.

The hosts threatened to extend their lead during the closing stages, taking advantage of their numerical superiority, but were unable to convert further opportunities.

The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive Bournemouth win, leaving Milan with work to do after a difficult start to their Europa League campaign.
