Eli Junior Kroupi closes in on Bournemouth comeback ahead of Manchester United clash
Eli Junior Kroupi is closing in on his return to competitive football after rejoining Bournemouth’s first-team training following several months on the sidelines with a foot injury.
The 20-year-old French forward has been out of action since undergoing surgery in July after suffering a fractured metatarsal during pre-season. However, his recovery has progressed sufficiently for him to resume full team training, raising hopes of an appearance against Manchester United on Sunday.
Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose confirmed that Kroupi could feature at Old Trafford, although the club will assess his condition before making a final decision.
“Junior is back in team training, but he is not on the UEFA list. Maybe we can give him a few minutes in Manchester,” Rose explained ahead of Bournemouth’s Europa League meeting with AC Milan.
Kroupi will miss the European fixture because he was not registered for the competition, but Sunday’s Premier League encounter presents a potential opportunity to make his first appearance of the 2026/27 campaign.
The youngster enjoyed an outstanding debut season in England, scoring 13 Premier League goals in 33 appearances to establish himself as one of Bournemouth’s most exciting attacking talents.
His performances attracted reported interest from several prominent clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona. A successful return to action could further strengthen his reputation, although there is no confirmation of a fresh transfer approach.
Rose is expected to reintegrate the forward gradually after his lengthy absence rather than immediately restoring him to the starting lineup.
Bournemouth will be encouraged by Kroupi’s progress as they prepare for their trip to Manchester United. If his recovery continues without complications, the Frenchman could soon provide a significant boost to the Cherries’ attacking options.
For now, the priority remains ensuring that Kroupi regains full match fitness before returning to a regular role in the team.
