Harry Kane beats Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe to win Marca’s 2026 Player of the Year award
Harry Kane has been named Marca’s 2026 Player of the Year after finishing ahead of Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe in the newspaper’s international vote.
Kane received 3,962 points, narrowly beating Yamal, who collected 3,937. Mbappe finished third with 3,440 points.
The Bayern Munich and England striker was chosen by an international panel of 226 voters, including journalists from Marca and other Spanish and international media outlets, as well as former players and managers.
His award follows a highly productive season for both club and country. Kane scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England last season, including 61 for Bayern alone. He also provided seven assists for the German club.
Kane finished second in the Champions League’s scoring charts with 13 goals. Mbappe led the competition with 15.
The England captain also ranks fifth in the all-time World Cup scoring list, having scored 14 goals in the tournament.
Kane has continued his strong form at the start of the current campaign, scoring 10 goals and supplying seven assists for Bayern Munich in all competitions.
The award adds to the recognition surrounding Kane, Yamal and Mbappe, who are all contenders for the Ballon d’Or, presented by France Football magazine.
The winner of that award will be announced in London next Monday.
