Ahmed Fattouh suffers thigh bruise in Egypt’s 5-0 win over South Sudan

Egypt defender Ahmed Fattouh sustained a thigh bruise during his side’s 5-0 victory over South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Zamalek and Egypt player went down shortly after half-time, holding the front of his thigh, and was unable to continue. He was replaced by Karim Hafez in the 53rd minute.

According to information obtained by FilGoal.com, Fattouh’s injury is a bruise to the thigh.

Egypt secured a convincing win in the second round of qualifying, with Mostafa Abdel Raouf “Zico”, Omar Marmoush, Ibrahim Adel and Hamza Abdelkarim scoring for the visitors. Marmoush scored twice.

The result moved Egypt to four points at the top of Group B, although they remain there temporarily. They had drawn with Angola in their opening match.

Egypt’s victory came after South Sudan had already lost to Malawi, leaving them bottom of the group without a point after two matches.

Malawi have three points, while Angola have one. The two sides are due to meet on 6 October in their second-round fixture.
