Youssef Bengaloud’s 40-metre strike gives Comoros victory over Namibia

Comoros began their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Namibia at Malouzini Stadium in the capital, Moroni.

Youssef Bengaloud scored the only goal of the match with a powerful effort from 40 metres which deceived the goalkeeper before finding the net.

The result gave Comoros their first points in Group [] after they were beaten 3-1 by Cameroon in their opening fixture.

Comoros moved into second place on goal difference with three points, level with Cameroon.

The goal was Bengaloud’s sixth for his country.

The victory was Comoros’ fourth against Namibia in eight meetings. Namibia have won two of those matches.
