Harry Kane wins Kicker award after record-breaking Bayern Munich season

Harry Kane has been named Germany’s footballer of the 2025-26 season after receiving the most votes in a closely contested poll conducted by German football magazine Kicker.

The Bayern Munich striker finished ahead of team-mate Michael Olise and Deniz Undav of Stuttgart, who was the highest-ranked German player in the voting.

Kane received 272 votes from the 656 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists who took part in the poll. Olise collected 203 votes, while Undav finished third with 61.

The award caps an exceptional campaign for the England international, who scored 61 goals in 51 competitive appearances for Bayern Munich last season. His performances also earned him the European Golden Shoe.

Kane’s goalscoring record was the key feature of his campaign, as he established himself as the leading individual performer in German football. His recognition came despite strong competition from Olise, who also enjoyed an impressive season after joining Bayern Munich.

The result gives Kane another major individual honour following a campaign in which his output for Bayern stood out among the players considered by German sports journalists.

A few days ago, Kane said the season had been the best of his football career. The award now provides further recognition of that assessment, with the poll placing him clearly ahead of his Bayern team-mate.

Olise’s second-place finish underlined his influence during the season, although the Frenchman was unable to match Kane’s total. Undav was the first German player in the final ranking, but his 61 votes left him well behind the two Bayern Munich players.

The poll was organised by Kicker and decided by members of the German sports journalists’ association. Kane’s total of 272 votes represented the strongest support among the three leading candidates.

In the women’s award, the honour went to Bayern Munich midfielder Julia Gwinn. That means both senior player awards went to footballers from the same club.

Kane’s selection adds to a season in which his scoring numbers and European Golden Shoe success made him one of the most prominent players in German football. His 61 goals in 51 official matches for Bayern Munich formed the foundation of his campaign and helped him secure the top individual award in the Kicker vote.
