Andre Vidigal returns to Portugal as Alverca sign Angola-Portugal winger from Wycombe
Angolan-Portuguese winger Andre Vidigal has joined Alverca from Wycombe on a free transfer, returning to Portugal after a spell in England.
The 28-year-old, who plays on the left wing, completed the move on 21 August 2026 as Alverca added him to their squad in Liga Portugal. Vidigal is right-footed and was valued at €800,000 before the transfer, which ended his short stay with Wycombe.
Vidigal joined the League One club from Stoke City on a free transfer on 2 February 2026. His move to Alverca represents a return to the country where he began his senior career and where he previously won the Portuguese second division with GD Estoril Praia in 2021.
He started his professional pathway with Coimbra after coming through the Academica youth system. His first move abroad came in 2017, when he joined Fortuna Sittard on loan before later making the transfer permanent. During his time with the Dutch club, Vidigal spent part of the 2018-19 campaign on loan at APOEL Nicosia.
The winger helped APOEL win the Cypriot championship during that season. He subsequently returned to Fortuna Sittard before joining Estoril on loan in September 2020. That spell ended with a return to the Netherlands, after which he moved permanently to Maritimo in July 2021.
Vidigal spent two seasons with Maritimo before crossing to England, joining Stoke City for a €500,000 fee in July 2023. He remained with Stoke until moving to Wycombe at the start of February 2026.
Born in Elvas, Vidigal stands 1.76 metres tall and holds Angolan and Portuguese nationality. His arrival gives Alverca an experienced wide player with a career that has included clubs in Portugal, the Netherlands, Cyprus and England.
The move also brings Vidigal back into Portuguese football after five years away. His previous domestic success came with Estoril, when he was part of the side that secured the 2021 second-tier title.
Vidigal’s transfer to Alverca was completed on 21 August 2026.
