Lameck Banda: Zambia winger joins Libya’s Swehly from Lecce
Zambia winger Lameck Banda has joined Libyan Premier League club Swehly from Italian side Lecce. The 25-year-old left winger completed the move on 21 August 2026, switching from Serie A to Libya’s top flight.
Banda, who was born in Lusaka on 29 January 2001, joins Swehly after four years with Lecce. He signed for the Italian club from Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva in August 2022, in a transfer worth €2m.
The move takes Banda into a new league after his time in Italy, where he was registered as a left-sided attacker. He is right-footed and stands 1.69m tall.
Banda’s 2026-27 campaign with Lecce included an Italy Cup fixture, although he did not make an appearance in the competition before leaving the club. His previous season at Lecce is not detailed in the available career record.
Before arriving in Italy, Banda spent the 2021-22 season with Maccabi Petah Tikva after joining the club on loan from Russian side Arsenal Tula. He returned to Arsenal Tula at the end of that loan before completing a permanent move to Petah Tikva in July 2022.
Banda had originally moved to Arsenal Tula from Zambian club Zesco United in July 2019 for €250,000. His earlier career also included a spell with Nkwazi FC, from whom he joined Zesco United in January 2018.
The switch to Swehly is the latest move in a career that has taken Banda from Zambia to Russia, Israel, Italy and now Libya. He joins a club competing in the Libyan Premier League and is listed as a Swehly player from 21 August 2026.
