Konsa swaps Villa Park for Arsenal in €59.6m Premier League deal
England and DR Congo defender Ezri Konsa has joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in a €59.6m transfer, taking the 28-year-old centre-back to another Premier League club.
Konsa moved to Arsenal on 21 August 2026 after five seasons with Villa, where he won the Europa League in the 2025-26 campaign. His transfer fee is significantly above the €45m market value recorded for the defender before the move.
The right-footed centre-back arrives after featuring prominently for England at the 2026 World Cup. Konsa played in all eight of England’s matches at the tournament, starting 88% of those games and scoring once as his side finished third.
His international career also includes a runners-up medal at Euro 2024, while he was part of England’s Under-20 team that won the 2017 World Cup. The move to Arsenal adds a defender with major tournament and European competition experience to the club’s squad.
Konsa joined Aston Villa from Brentford in July 2019 for €13.3m. He had spent the previous season with Brentford after coming through at Charlton, where he progressed from the club’s Under-18 side into the senior team.
The London-born defender made his senior breakthrough at Charlton before moving to Brentford and then Villa, establishing himself as a centre-back in the English game. His arrival at Arsenal represents the latest step in a career that has included domestic, European and international honours.
Arsenal’s signing was recorded on the opening day of the 2026-27 season, with Konsa taking the next stage of his career in north London. He has completed his move from Aston Villa for €59.6m.
