Al Ahly winger Ahmed Sayed Zizo doubtful for season opener against El Sharqia Enppi
Al Ahly winger Ahmed Sayed Zizo is a doubt for the club’s opening Egyptian Premier League match against El Sharqia Enppi after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The Egyptian giants are scheduled to begin their league campaign against El Sharqia Enppi on Sunday, but Zizo’s availability for the encounter currently hang in the balance. His participation will depend on further medical examinations results.
Zizo featured for Al Ahly in their Joan Gamper Cup clash against Barcelona on Wednesday at Spotify Camp Nou and scored the Egyptian club’s only goal in the 2-1 defeat.
However, the former Zamalek star was forced to leave the pitch after suffering an injury, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of the start of the domestic campaign.
Zizo is currently dealing with a hamstring strain and will undergo a medical examination to determine the severity of the injury and whether he will be fit enough to face El Sharqia Enppi.
The medical assessment will provide Al Ahly’s technical and medical teams with a clearer picture of the player’s condition and the amount of time he may need to recover.
Zizo has been an important addition to Al Ahly’s squad and his absence would be a setback for the Egyptian giants as they prepare to open their league title campaign.
Al Ahly recently completed their pre-season training camp in Spain, where they worked under the technical staff led by Hussein Ammouta.
The camp featured intensive daily training sessions and three friendly matches against Badalona, Europa and Barcelona, providing the squad with valuable preparation ahead of the new season.
The club will now wait for the results of Zizo’s medical examination before making a final decision on his participation against El Sharqia Enppi.
For the moment, the Egyptian international remains a doubt, with his fitness expected to be assessed carefully to avoid aggravating the hamstring problem at the start of the campaign.
