Nice push to bring Elye Wahi back from Eintracht Frankfurt

Elye Wahi is close to returning to OGC Nice, with negotiations between the French club and Eintracht Frankfurt now at an advanced stage, according to Sacha Tavolieri. The two sides are working on a paid loan deal that would include an option to buy, with the aim of reaching a full agreement as soon as Wednesday.

Talks have progressed positively after Nice reached an agreement with Wahi over personal terms. The club must now settle the remaining details with Eintracht Frankfurt before the move can be completed.

The value of the loan and the precise conditions attached to the purchase option remain under discussion. However, all parties are understood to be keen to conclude the operation quickly, with the negotiations entering their final phase.

A return to Nice would represent another step in the career of the 23-year-old Ivory Coast international. Wahi is already familiar with the club and its surroundings, having spent the previous season there on loan.

His profile is appreciated by Nice’s directors, who want to rely on him again as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The proposed move would therefore give Wahi the opportunity to return to an environment he already knows, while allowing OGC Nice to bring back a player who has previously been part of the club’s squad.

Wahi remains under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2030. His current market value is estimated at 18 million euros, while his annual salary in Germany is reported to be 3,770,000 euros, equivalent to 2,450,500,000 FCFA.

The negotiations come shortly before OGC Nice begin their French championship campaign. The club are due to face Lorient in their opening match of the season, with the proposed return of Wahi potentially providing another attacking option for the fixture and the campaign ahead.

The betting company 1xBet has listed Nice as favourites for that match, offering odds of 2.15 for a home victory. A draw is priced at 3.45, while a Lorient win is available at 3.20.

For now, the focus remains on the discussions between Nice and Eintracht Frankfurt. The two clubs are attempting to finalise the financial structure of the loan, including the amount to be paid initially and the terms of the option to buy.

If an agreement is reached on Wednesday as hoped, Wahi could begin another spell with OGC Nice after his previous loan experience at the club. The proposed arrangement would initially bring him back on a temporary basis, while giving Nice the possibility of making the transfer permanent later on.
