Bensebaini set to continue Borussia Dortmund stay after summer interest
Ramy Bensebaini will remain with Borussia Dortmund for the coming season despite interest from several European clubs, according to a source close to the Algeria defender.
The 31-year-old has no intention of leaving the German club and plans to continue wearing Dortmund’s black and yellow colours. He is under contract until 30 June 2027 and is expected to focus on the club’s objectives for the next campaign.
A source close to Bensebaini told Maghreb-Foot that Borussia Dortmund retain confidence in the defender and want him to remain part of the squad. The same source said Bensebaini continues to be regarded as an important option in head coach’s defensive plans.
The player’s decision comes after his name was repeatedly linked with a move during the summer transfer window. Galatasaray and Napoli were among the clubs reported to have shown an interest in him.
Paris Saint-Germain had also been mentioned as a possible destination, although the French club is reported to have ended its pursuit of the former Borussia Monchengladbach player.
Bensebaini’s contribution last season underlined his value to Borussia Dortmund. He made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
His campaign was interrupted by a number of periods on the sidelines, with back and ankle injuries affecting his availability. Despite those fitness problems, he remained an important part of the club’s defensive rotation and retained a prominent role in the squad.
The decision to stay means Bensebaini is set to begin another season in Germany with the aim of establishing himself more firmly in Dortmund’s system. He is also expected to see out the remainder of his current contract, which runs until 2027.
Transfermarkt currently values the Algeria international at €7m. In Germany, Bensebaini is reported to earn an annual salary of €4.5m, equivalent to 2,925,000,000 FCFA.
Borussia Dortmund’s next major fixture will be the German Super Cup against Bayern Munich. The source also listed betting odds from 1xBet for that match, with Dortmund priced at 4.70 to win, a draw at 4.25 and Bayern Munich at 1.63. It additionally included a reference to downloading the 1xBet application.
For now, however, Bensebaini’s immediate future appears settled. Rather than pursuing a transfer after attracting attention from Galatasaray, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, the defender is set to continue his career at Borussia Dortmund and compete for a regular place in the club’s plans.
