Mamadou Sarr’s Chelsea future in focus as Real Sociedad and Al Hilal explore a move
Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr is attracting interest from Real Sociedad and Al Hilal as the transfer window approaches its close, with both clubs considering a move for the 20-year-old Senegal international.
Sarr joined Chelsea from Strasbourg in the summer of 2025 but could leave the Blues temporarily in search of regular first-team football. The central defender is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2033, although his immediate future could now be shaped by the interest from Spain and Saudi Arabia.
According to Foot Mercato, Real Sociedad are keen to take Sarr on loan. The Basque club are understood to value the young defender’s profile and believe they could provide an environment suited to his development.
A move to Real Sociedad would give Sarr the opportunity to continue adapting to the demands of senior football while increasing his chances of playing regularly. Chelsea could also view a temporary switch as a way for the defender to gain valuable experience before returning to London with greater first-team experience.
Al Hilal are also monitoring the situation closely. The Saudi Arabian club could try to persuade Chelsea to allow Sarr to leave, although the details of any potential deal have yet to be established.
Discussions between Al Hilal and the player are reportedly already under way. With both clubs showing an interest, competition for Sarr’s signature could become a feature of the final weeks of the transfer window.
Sarr still has considerable room for improvement and is tied to Chelsea for a further eight years beyond the current campaign. A loan move would allow him to develop away from the pressure of competing for a place in Chelsea’s squad, while preserving the possibility of a longer-term role at the Premier League club.
The defender earns an annual salary of 2,134,163 euros, equivalent to 1,387,205,950 FCFA, at Chelsea. His current market value is estimated at 22m euros.
The transfer interest comes shortly before Fulham are due to face Chelsea in the opening round of the English championship. For that match, betting company 1xBet lists Fulham at odds of 3.10 to win, with a draw priced at 3.55 and a Chelsea victory at 2.00.
Sarr’s potential departure would therefore be temporary rather than a permanent break with Chelsea, unless the situation changes during negotiations. For now, Real Sociedad’s proposed loan and Al Hilal’s interest have placed the Senegalese defender’s future among the issues to watch as the transfer window moves towards its conclusion.
