Mamadou Sarr attracts interest from Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad are interested in signing Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr on loan as the Senegal international looks set to leave Stamford Bridge temporarily in search of regular playing time.

Sarr joined Chelsea from Strasbourg in January but has made only seven appearances since arriving at the Premier League club. The limited opportunities have increased the likelihood of the 20-year-old leaving on loan this summer.

Real Sociedad are keen to take advantage of the situation and want to bring the centre-back to Spain for the season. The Spanish club believes a temporary move could give Sarr the playing time he needs to continue his development.

Sarr has already established himself at international level with Senegal, earning eight caps, but his opportunities at Chelsea have so far been limited since his January move from Strasbourg.

A departure on loan is therefore considered very likely, with Real Sociedad among the clubs looking to secure his services.

However, the Spanish side is not alone in its interest. Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal are also pursuing a deal for Sarr and are holding discussions with the defender.

Al-Hilal have presented their project to the 20-year-old as they look to convince him to move to Saudi Arabia.

The club wants Sarr to become part of its squad rotation, giving him the opportunity to gain more regular playing time away from Chelsea.

The Saudi side also has a Senegalese connection in its squad through Kalidou Koulibaly, although the immediate focus remains on convincing Sarr to join the club on loan.

With discussions taking place over his future, Sarr now has competing options as he considers his next step.

Real Sociedad’s interest would give the defender the chance to continue his career in Spain, while Al-Hilal are offering an alternative route in Saudi Arabia.

For Chelsea, a temporary move would allow Sarr to gain valuable first-team experience after struggling to secure regular appearances since his arrival.

The Senegal defender’s future is therefore expected to become clearer as discussions with the interested clubs continue, with both Real Sociedad and Al-Hilal seeking to secure a loan agreement.
