Chelsea put premium price on Pedro Neto as Al-Hilal and Premier League rivals circle

Chelsea are asking for close to £100m to sell Portugal winger Pedro Neto after attracting interest from Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal during the current summer transfer window.

Neto, 26, has made more than 100 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024 in a deal worth £54m.

However, despite his regular involvement, the winger may not have produced the level of performance expected for such a substantial transfer fee. He scored close to 10 goals last season, although those goals came across 52 appearances.

Chelsea have become increasingly willing to consider offers for Neto after strengthening their attacking options this summer with the signings of Morgan Rogers, Geovany Quenda and Emanuel Emegha.

The club had previously been thought to value Neto at about £70m. The Daily Mail now reports that Chelsea want almost £100m before agreeing to his departure, a significant increase on their earlier valuation.

Manchester City have been strongly linked with the Portugal international. City manager Enzo Maresca is keen on the possibility of working with Neto again after coaching him during his time in charge of Chelsea.

Neto’s relationship with Maresca could be an important factor in City’s interest, although any move would depend on whether the club is prepared to meet Chelsea’s new asking price.

Arsenal are also understood to be monitoring the winger. Neto was linked with the Gunners during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the Premier League club are looking for alternatives after failing in their attempt to sign Brazil forward Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, have made an offer for Neto as they seek to continue their sizeable spending under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The London club’s approach adds to the competition for the player’s signature, with three Premier League sides now reported to be interested in a move.

Al-Hilal’s involvement has also influenced Chelsea’s decision to raise their valuation. Neto has been strongly linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League club, with reports claiming that he has already agreed personal terms for the proposed transfer.

Chelsea’s willingness to sell comes after their latest recruitment activity left them with greater depth in attack. The arrivals of Rogers, Quenda and Emegha have created more competition for places, allowing the club to consider a major offer for Neto.

The Portuguese winger joined Chelsea after establishing himself at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has since passed the 100-appearance mark for the club. His contribution last season, including almost 10 goals in 52 matches, has kept him on the radar of several leading clubs despite questions over whether his overall output has matched his transfer fee.

Chelsea are now in a strong negotiating position, with interest from both the Premier League and Al-Hilal potentially driving the final price towards £100m.
