Real Madrid’s Ivorian youngster Yann Diomande has been left out of the squad for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Deportivo La Coruna, with Kylian Mbappe also among the notable absentees.

Manager Jose Mourinho has named his squad for the match, with several first-team players unavailable for the Spanish club’s latest pre-season fixture.

Diomande, who represents one of the promising African talents in Real Madrid’s ranks, is joined on the absentee list by Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, Raul Asensio, Ferland Mendy, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Aurelien Tchouameni, Thiago Pitarch, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes.

Several first-team players missing

The absence of a number of established players means Mourinho will have to rely on a largely reshuffled squad against Deportivo.

Among those available are goalkeepers Andriy Lunin and Sergio Mestre.

The defensive options include Hoesen, Trent, Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries, Juan Martinez, Mario Rivas and Lamini.

Strong midfield and attack

Real Madrid’s midfield selection features Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva, Cestero, Lacosta and Alexis Seria.

Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Espi, Brahim Diaz and Yane make up the attacking options listed for the friendly.

The match will provide an opportunity for several of the available players to impress as Real Madrid continue preparations for the new campaign.

For African football followers, particular attention will be on Diomande’s progress at the Spanish giants. His omission means the Ivorian will have to wait for another opportunity to feature as Real Madrid continue their pre-season preparations.
