France defender Jean-Clair Todibo is reportedly prepared to accept a financial sacrifice to help complete a move from West Ham United to Marseille this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Marseille have identified the 26-year-old centre-back as one of their targets as they continue preparations for the new Ligue 1 season.

Todibo is keen to leave West Ham following their relegation to the EFL Championship, while talks between the English club and Marseille are continuing.

Marseille explore loan deal

With Marseille operating under financial constraints, negotiations are focused on a potential loan agreement.

A key issue in the discussions is how much of Todibo’s salary the French club would be expected to cover during the proposed loan spell.

Todibo is reportedly willing to reduce his financial demands to help bridge the gap between the two clubs and make the transfer possible.

The former Barcelona and Nice defender’s willingness to compromise could prove important as Marseille attempt to reach an agreement with West Ham.

Departures remain Marseille priority

Despite their interest in Todibo, Marseille’s immediate focus remains on reducing the size of their squad.

The club are expected to prioritise player departures before bringing in new arrivals, with outgoing transfers considered necessary before further business can be completed at the Vélodrome.

For Todibo, however, the desire to return to France could see him make a significant financial concession in order to secure the move.

With negotiations ongoing, Marseille and West Ham must now find an agreement over the structure of the potential loan and the defender’s wages before the transfer can progress.
