Strasbourg contact Rennes over Djaoui Cisse
Strasbourg have contacted Rennes to discuss a possible deal for Djaoui Cisse as they search for midfield reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
The Alsace club are looking for a replacement after Valentin Barco’s departure and have identified the 22-year-old as an appealing Ligue 1 option.
Cisse remains under contract with Rennes until June 2030, but his position has changed significantly in recent months. He was an important player under former manager Habib Beye, while current coach Franck Haise has used him far less since taking charge during the winter.
The arrival of Adrien Thomasson from Lens could make opportunities even harder to find. As a result, Rennes are prepared to listen to offers rather than force Cisse to remain at Roazhon Park. Strasbourg have already opened initial discussions, although there is no indication yet that an agreement is close.
Cisse is reportedly included on Rennes’ shortlist of players who could leave, alongside Jordan James and Lilian Brassier. Transfermarkt values the midfielder at approximately €10 million, but Rennes are expected to request more because clubs in England and Germany are also monitoring him.
For Strasbourg, the move would add youth and Ligue 1 experience to their midfield. For Cisse, it could offer the regular playing time he has struggled to secure in Rennes.
