Monaco make fresh offer for Algeria’s Ghedjemis as Besiktas join race
Algeria international Fares Ghedjemis is attracting strong interest from French club Monaco, who have made a fresh offer for the 23-year-old winger.
According to Foot Mercato, Monaco are stepping up their pursuit of Ghedjemis as they look to replace Maghnes Akliouche, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
Ghedjemis has emerged as a sought-after player following an impressive campaign with Frosinone in Italy’s Serie B, where he helped the club secure promotion to the top flight.
Monaco make new approach
Monaco have submitted a new bid for Ghedjemis, although the value of the offer has not been disclosed.
The French club are keen to add the Algerian to their squad as they attempt to fill the attacking position left vacant by Akliouche.
Ghedjemis is also understood to favour a move to Monaco, putting the Principality side in a strong position to complete the transfer.
Celtic and Rangers pull out
The winger’s performances in Italy had attracted interest from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.
However, both clubs have now reportedly withdrawn from the race because of the financial demands involved in signing Ghedjemis.
That leaves Monaco and Turkish side Besiktas as the main contenders for his signature.
Besiktas remain interested
Besiktas are also negotiating for Ghedjemis and have not been ruled out of the race.
Although the Algeria international reportedly prefers a move to Monaco, he remains open to the possibility of joining the Turkish club.
The former Le Havre academy player is therefore expected to make a decision on his future during the current transfer window, with Monaco’s latest offer potentially bringing them closer to securing the Algerian winger.
