Al Ahly make offer to bring Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie back
Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahly have reportedly made an offer to former midfielder Franck Kessie as they seek to bring the Ivorian international back to the club ahead of the new season.
The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after spending three seasons with the Jeddah-based side, where he established himself as an important member of the squad.
According to Saudi newspaper Okaz, Al Ahly have proposed a one-year contract for Kessie, with an option to extend the agreement for another season.
The report claims the former Barcelona and AC Milan midfielder could earn around €10 million per year if he accepts the offer.
Kessie enjoyed a successful spell with Al Ahly after joining the club in the summer of 2023. He made 119 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists during his time in Jeddah.
He also helped the club secure major honours, including two AFC Champions League titles in successive seasons and the Saudi Super Cup last season.
Al Ahly are looking to reinforce their midfield options ahead of a demanding 2026-27 campaign, with the club set to compete on several fronts.
Kessie is not the only midfielder being considered, with Senegal international Pape Gueye, who plays for Spanish side Villarreal, also reportedly featuring on the club’s shortlist.
Al Ahly are expected to face a busy season involving the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, Saudi Super Cup, AFC Champions League and Intercontinental Cup.
The club will begin their Saudi Pro League campaign against Al-Diriyah on Thursday as they open their 2026-27 league campaign.
