Marwan Hamdi: Egypt striker joins Al-Karma from Pyramids FC

Egypt centre-forward Marwan Hamdi has joined Iraq Stars League club Al-Karma from Pyramids FC, completing a move that takes the 29-year-old to Iraq after a trophy-filled 2025-26 season in Egypt.

Hamdi’s transfer was completed on 9 August 2026, with the Cairo-born striker becoming an Al-Karma player after his spell with Pyramids. He will continue his career in the Iraq Stars League, having previously played in Egypt’s Premier League with Pyramids.

The right-footed forward arrives after winning three major honours with Pyramids during the 2025-26 campaign. He was part of the side that lifted the CAF Super Cup and the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup, while also winning the CAF Champions League with the club in 2024-25.

Hamdi also has domestic success on his record. He won the Egyptian Cup with Pyramids in 2023-24 and 2025-26, having previously claimed the competition with Zamalek in 2020-21. That 2020-21 season also saw him win the Egyptian championship with Zamalek.

His record in the Egyptian Cup includes an individual honour, with Hamdi finishing as the competition’s leading scorer in 2023-24 after scoring four goals. He now joins Al-Karma with that domestic and continental experience behind him.

At international level, Hamdi has represented Egypt and was part of the team that finished as Africa Cup runners-up in the 2021-22 edition. His move to Al-Karma therefore links the Iraqi club with a forward who has won honours at club level and reached a major final with his country.

Hamdi’s arrival adds a 29-year-old Egyptian centre-forward to Al-Karma’s squad as the club prepares for its campaign in Iraq’s top flight. The transfer was completed on 9 August, ending his time at Pyramids and beginning his spell with Al-Karma.
