Wydad confirm four signings as Yahya Jabrane returns to Moroccan club

Wydad have announced the return of former midfielder Yahya Jabrane on a one-year contract, completing a run of four new arrivals as the club reshapes its squad for the coming season.

Jabrane previously played for Wydad before leaving Morocco to join United Arab Emirates club Ajman. His return is the latest move confirmed by the Casablanca side, who have also secured the services of Hamza Jennane and Rachid Ghanimi on three-year deals.

Wydad have additionally signed Aymen El Hassouni for one season. His contract includes an option to extend the agreement by a further year.

The four announcements represent a significant series of squad changes for Wydad, who are preparing for the new campaign under Portuguese head coach Paulo Sergio Brino. The club announced Brino’s appointment as manager before confirming the latest additions to the playing staff.

Jabrane’s return is particularly notable because of his previous spell with Wydad and his subsequent move to Ajman. The club has now brought him back on a short-term agreement, while offering longer contracts to Jennane and Ghanimi. El Hassouni’s deal sits between those arrangements, with the possibility of remaining at the club beyond the initial season.

Wydad have also made a change to their sporting structure by appointing former captain Salah Eddine Saidi as the team’s sporting co-ordinator. Saidi’s new role was announced alongside the club’s wider changes in preparation for the next season.

The appointments and signings come after a difficult domestic campaign for Wydad. The club finished fifth in the Moroccan league, a position that means they will not take part in African club competitions next season.

As a result, Wydad’s immediate focus will be on rebuilding under Brino and improving on their league performance. The addition of four players, including the returning Jabrane, forms part of that process, while Saidi’s appointment gives the club a former captain in a senior sporting role.

Wydad confirmed the moves on Sunday, 2 August 2026. The club’s announcements cover both its playing squad and its organisation away from the pitch, with the contracts varying from one season to three and, in El Hassouni’s case, including a possible extension.

Jabrane, Jennane, Ghanimi and El Hassouni are therefore the first four players named in Wydad’s latest recruitment announcements. Their arrivals follow the appointment of Brino as manager and come as the club begins preparations for a season without African competition.
