Maguette Gueye scores first Liga goal for Racing Santander at Barcelona

Maguette Gueye scored his first Liga goal as Racing Santander attempted to fight back against FC Barcelona on matchday six of the Spanish top flight.

The 23-year-old Senegalese defensive midfielder found the net in the 30th minute after Racing had fallen behind early in the match at the Catalans’ home ground.

Gueye’s finish reduced the deficit and gave Racing a foothold in a demanding fixture against Barca. It was his first goal since joining the Spanish league and provided a significant personal landmark in one of the competition’s most challenging matches.

Despite Gueye’s contribution, FC Barcelona remained in control on the scoreboard. The Blaugrana led 4-1 while the match was still being played.

Racing Santander will now hope that Gueye’s goal can inspire a further response and give them a chance of returning to the contest.
