Al Ahly agree deal for Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane to join Al Shamal

Al Ahly have reached an agreement with Qatari club Al Shamal for the transfer of Tunisia international Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.

The deal has been agreed in principle and Ben Romdhane is expected to complete his move to Al Shamal within the next few days, once the transfer documents have been signed.

FilGoal.com understands that Al Ahly and Al Shamal have settled the details of the agreement for the Tunisia international, who is set to leave the Egyptian club after joining at the start of the current season.

Al Ahly had previously indicated that they would not oppose Ben Romdhane’s departure, provided they received a fee of at least $1.7m. That is the amount Al Shamal offered to sign the player.

The transfer will become official after the contracts are completed and signed. Until then, the agreement remains subject to the final formalities between the two clubs.

Ben Romdhane joined Al Ahly from Hungarian club Ferencvarosi at the beginning of the current season. During his time with the club, he made 36 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

His departure will bring an end to his spell with Al Ahly after a season in which he featured regularly for the club. The agreed move to Qatar is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

The agreement marks the latest stage of negotiations between Al Ahly and Al Shamal over the Tunisia international. The Qatari club’s offer matched the financial condition set by Al Ahly when the Egyptian side decided it would consider allowing the player to leave.

FilGoal first reported that Al Ahly were willing to part with Ben Romdhane if an offer of no less than $1.7m was received. Al Shamal subsequently presented a proposal at that value, enabling the two clubs to reach an agreement over the transfer.

Ben Romdhane’s Al Ahly record stands at 36 appearances, two goals and four assists. He will now move to Al Shamal after the remaining contractual procedures have been completed.
