Zion Suzuki offered PSG vision as Paris Saint-Germain pursue Parma deal

Paris Saint-Germain have moved closer to signing Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki during the current summer transfer window, after presenting their project directly to the Japan international.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said Paris Saint-Germain had set out their plans to Suzuki in an attempt to secure the goalkeeper’s approval for the proposed move.

“Paris Saint-Germain presented their project to Zion Suzuki in order to obtain the goalkeeper’s green light for the deal,” Romano wrote on X.

The French club are now prepared to continue discussions with Parma as they seek to make progress on the transfer. Juventus had also shown an interest in signing Suzuki, but their initial offer was rejected.

“Paris Saint-Germain are ready to move forward with Parma in the negotiations,” Romano added. “Juventus also wanted to sign Suzuki, but their initial bid was rejected.”

The development places Paris Saint-Germain in a strong position in the race for the goalkeeper, with the club having already made direct contact with the player by outlining its plans. Their willingness to proceed with Parma means negotiations can now continue between the two clubs.

Suzuki is the latest goalkeeper to attract interest from one of Europe’s leading clubs after establishing himself in the Italian league. His potential move to Paris Saint-Germain would add another option to a squad that used two different starting goalkeepers during the previous campaign.

Lucas Chevalier and Matvey Safonov shared playing duties in goal for Paris Saint-Germain last season. The pair took turns as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper after Gianluigi Donnarumma was sold to Manchester City.

That change left Chevalier and Safonov competing for responsibility at the back, and both featured as Paris Saint-Germain protected their goal throughout the campaign. Suzuki’s possible arrival would therefore represent another significant development in the club’s goalkeeping department.

For now, Paris Saint-Germain’s focus is on turning Suzuki’s positive response to their project into an agreement with Parma. Juventus remain part of the background to the deal after seeing their first proposal refused, but Romano’s update indicates that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to press ahead with their own negotiations.

The proposed transfer remains subject to an agreement between the clubs, although Paris Saint-Germain’s presentation to Suzuki and their readiness to continue talks with Parma suggest the move is advancing.
