Zamalek star Ben-Tayek dismisses reports of Egypt nationality switch

Zamalek defender Mahmoud Ben-Tayek has dismissed reports of obtaining Egyptian sporting nationality in order to represent the Pharaohs at international level.

As per reports, the Moroccan international was exploring the possibility of switching his international allegiance from Morocco to Egypt, with his situation at the Atlas Lions reportedly linked to the speculation.

However, an informed source has strongly denied the claims, insisting that the reports are completely baseless.

Ben-Tayek has received no approach from the Egyptian Football Association regarding a potential switch and is not considering representing Egypt.

The 26-year-old remains committed to the Moroccan national team and has no desire to change his international allegiance.

Ben-Tayek is instead focused on his performances with Zamalek, where he has recently been producing strong displays and working to maintain his place at the Egyptian giants.

The left-back was previously included in Morocco’s reserve national team squad for the last edition of the Arab Cup, a tournament the Atlas Lions went on to win.

Despite the reports linking him with Egypt, Ben-Tayek’s immediate focus remains on Zamalek and continuing to push for opportunities with the Moroccan national team.
