Morocco to host 2030 World Cup final at Hassan II Stadium – FA chief Fouzi Lekjaa confirms

President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, has confirmed that the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane province will host the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Lekjaa, a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party’s political bureau, made the revelation while speaking in Bouznika.

According to Lekjaa, the choice of Benslimane as the location for the ambitious stadium project was made under the direction of King Mohammed VI, which he said demonstrates the importance attached to the province and its development.

Amid ongoing discussions and controversies over the venue for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, Lekjaa has revealed that the Hassan II Stadium has been designated to host the final.

With Morocco set to host the showpiece, Lekjaa is hoping the Atlas Lions can compete for the title on home soil.

He recalled the disappointment that followed Morocco’s defeat to France at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, insisting that reaching the final had been the ultimate ambition after the Atlas Lions made history by becoming the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals.

The 2030 World Cup is therefore expected to represent another major milestone in Morocco’s football development, with the country set to co-host the tournament alongside Spain and Portugal.

For Lekjaa, the development surrounding the Hassan II Stadium and the 2030 World Cup should go beyond football, with the tournament serving as an opportunity to accelerate development and improve the lives of communities in the host regions.
