Ronnie Gabriel resigns as Richards Bay close in on Adnan Beganovic

Richards Bay FC head coach Ronnie Gabriel has resigned with immediate effect, with former TS Galaxy manager Adnan Beganovic understood to be close to taking over at the Natal Rich Boyz.

Gabriel’s departure comes after a difficult start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign. Richards Bay confirmed the resignation in a club statement but did not announce a replacement.

“Richards Bay Football Club is sad to announce that head coach Ronnie Gabriel has resigned from the club with immediate effect,” the club said.

The KwaZulu-Natal side thanked Gabriel for his contribution over the past seasons and said further information about the appointment of a new coach would be provided in due course.

However, Beganovic is believed to have emerged as the leading candidate for the role, with negotiations between the coach and club having progressed significantly.

The 43-year-old is likely to sign a two-year contract with an option for a further year, although the final terms are still subject to discussions between the two parties.

Beganovic is currently in Bosnia, but he is expected to travel to South Africa in the coming days as negotiations move closer to completion.

The coach is also understood to want to bring his own assistant as part of the technical team. That request is included in the talks over his potential appointment.

Beganovic has been without a club since mutually agreeing to leave TS Galaxy in April.
