Haitham Hassan back in Real Oviedo training after World Cup duty with Egypt

Egypt winger Haitham Hassan has returned to training with Real Oviedo after his post-World Cup break, as the Spanish club step up preparations for the new Segunda Division campaign.

The 2026 World Cup participant has rejoined Oviedo’s pre-season camp following his involvement with Egypt at the tournament and a subsequent period of rest.

Hassan, capped at senior level by Egypt, is now taking part in full group sessions as Real Oviedo aim for an immediate return to La Liga, having been relegated to Spain’s second tier.

The club confirmed his comeback to work on Thursday, with the 24-year-old winger integrating into the squad’s preparations ahead of the new season’s kick-off.

Real Oviedo marked his return on their official X account with a message celebrating the resumption of his spell in Asturias, posting: “الفرعون عاد الى منزله بالفعل” – “The Pharaoh has already returned home.”

Transfer speculation around Hassan

In recent weeks, Hassan’s future at the club had been the subject of speculation, with his name linked to a possible move away from Real Oviedo.

The player received several offers during this period, with Scottish champions Celtic emerging as the most notable suitor.

However, talks between Real Oviedo and Celtic did not lead to a final agreement, and no transfer materialised before Hassan’s return from international duty.

As a result, he continues as part of Real Oviedo’s squad for the time being and remains involved in the team’s build-up to the new Segunda Division season.

Hassan’s presence in pre-season offers a boost to Real Oviedo as they look to recover quickly from relegation and mount a promotion challenge back to the top flight of Spanish football.

After featuring for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup and completing his mandated rest period, his focus has now shifted back to club football, with Real Oviedo counting on him as they prepare for the coming campaign.
