Pyramids rule out domestic loan exit for Egypt midfielder Mahmoud Saber, say only Europe move would be considered

Pyramids have decided they will only allow Egypt international Mahmoud Saber to leave the club if he secures a move to Europe, with the midfielder no longer available for another domestic loan.

The 22-year-old is currently with the Pyramids first-team squad at their training camp in Turkey after returning from a loan spell at ZED.

A Pyramids source told FilGoal.com: “Mahmoud Saber will not go out on loan again inside Egypt, and a move to European football will be the only reason for his departure from the team.”

The stance underlines Pyramids’ intention to keep Saber as part of their senior set-up unless a permanent opportunity arises abroad, effectively ruling out any further temporary switches within the Egyptian league.

World Cup impact

Saber comes back to Pyramids on the back of a breakthrough summer in which he featured for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder scored for the Pharaohs in their match against Iran, enhancing his profile on the international stage.

Egypt reached the last 16 of the tournament before being eliminated in a dramatic defeat by Argentina, who went on to lose the final to Spain.

Club career so far

Saber began his career at Nogoom El Mostakbal (Nogoom FC) before earning a move to Pyramids.

Over the past two seasons he has been sent out on loan to Smouha and then to ZED to gain regular first-team experience.

He has now rejoined Pyramids’ squad this summer following the end of his loan at ZED and is expected to compete for a place in the club’s midfield during the coming campaign, unless a European offer materialises that satisfies the club’s conditions.
