Lamine Yamal reveals Barcelona’s physical weakness

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal believes the team’s physical limitations become most noticeable when they face Europe’s strongest sides.

Despite Barcelona’s impressive form in La Liga and the Champions League, the young star says opponents such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain can expose areas requiring improvement.

“Our weak point stands out more against teams like Bayern or PSG,” Yamal said. He explained that those opponents possess greater physical strength, forcing Barcelona to run extensively and maintain concentration for the entire match.

Yamal contrasted those encounters with matches against Arsenal, which he described as more tactical and focused heavily on possession. His comments suggest Barcelona’s technical qualities remain strong, but the squad must continue developing its ability to withstand intense physical pressure.

The winger also identified PSG as one of the leading contenders for Champions League success. However, he warned that defending a European crown can be more difficult than winning it for the first time.

“I think PSG is one of the favourites [to win the Champions League], but their problem is that winning again after already having won is something very difficult. That’s the hardest thing in football,” Yamal said.

“When you win a title, winning it again is the most complicated part,” he added.

Yamal’s assessment offers an honest view of Barcelona’s challenge as they aim to compete with Europe’s most powerful teams.
