Enock Kwateng: France-Ghana defender leaves Botev Plovdiv to become free agent

France-Ghana right-back Enock Kwateng has left Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv and is now a free agent after his departure was finalised on 16 July 2026. The 29-year-old defender, whose market value stands at around €300,000, ends a one-year spell in the efbet Liga.

Kwateng had re-launched his career with Botev Plovdiv in July 2025 after a previous period without a club, following his exit from Turkish outfit Ankaragucu in January 2024. His move away from Plovdiv again places him on the open market as an experienced option at right-back.

Born in Mantes-la-Jolie and standing at 1.81m, Kwateng has built his reputation primarily in France, where he made more than 100 Ligue 1 appearances across spells with FC Nantes and Bordeaux. During that time he contributed at both ends of the pitch, with goals and assists in the French top flight, and also featured in domestic cup competitions.

Kwateng first broke through at Nantes after progressing from their youth ranks, moving up from the under-17s to the senior side in 2015. He later joined Bordeaux on a free transfer in 2019, before a series of short stints and spells without a club led him to opportunities in Turkey and Bulgaria.

At international youth level, he was part of the France Under-19 squad that won the European Championship in 2016, underlining his early pedigree on the continental stage.

Kwateng now departs Botev Plovdiv and will look for the next step in his career as an unattached player.
