Kamel Soufi: Algeria goalkeeper returns to MC Oran from USM Alger
Algeria goalkeeper Kamel Soufi has rejoined MC Oran from USM Alger, sealing a move back to the club where he previously established himself as a first-team regular. The 30-year-old, born in Sidi Bel Abbes, has signed a contract with the Ligue 1 side until 30 June 2029.
Soufi heads back to Oran after a highly successful spell with USM Alger, where he lifted the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2025-26 season and the CAF Super Cup in 2023-24. He was also part of the USM Alger team that dominated the domestic cup scene, winning the Algerian Cup in both 2024-25 and 2025-26.
The move marks another significant chapter in the career of the 1.81m goalkeeper, who plays predominantly with his right foot. Soufi first joined MC Oran in 2021 from WA Tlemcen on a free transfer, before earning a switch to USM Alger in 2023, again as a free agent. His return now comes with his market value standing at €300,000.
Before breaking through at the top level, Soufi progressed from Belouizdad’s youth ranks to the senior side at CR Belouizdad in 2016, where he collected his first major honour with the Algerian Cup in the 2016-17 campaign. A move to WA Tlemcen followed in 2018, laying the groundwork for his initial rise at MC Oran.
Soufi’s new deal ties him to MC Oran for three years, confirming a long-term commitment between club and player as he embarks on his second spell with the team.
