Brazilian international Bruno Guimarães has hailed Morocco’s current national team as one of the strongest generations in the country’s football history, as anticipation builds ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C showdown.
The South American giants will lock horns with the Atlas Lions on June 13, 2026 in highly competitive Group C encounter.
Speaking in New Jersey, the Newcastle United midfielder expressed deep respect for the Atlas Lions while acknowledging the challenge they pose.
“Morocco is a good team, and we have the utmost respect for them,” Guimarães said, responding to a question from the Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP).
The Brazilian star went on to highlight the rapid rise and consistency of Moroccan football in recent years, particularly the quality of the current squad, which has established itself as one of the most competitive in international football.
Guimarães specifically praised the group of players representing Morocco today, describing them as a historic generation for the North African nation.
“The current generation of Moroccan national team players is one of the best generations in the history of Moroccan football,” he stated.
His comments come amid growing global recognition of Morocco’s progress on the international stage, following their remarkable performances in recent tournaments and their continued rise in FIFA rankings and global competitiveness.
Looking ahead to the Group C clash between Brazil and Morocco on June 13 at the New York-New Jersey Stadium, Guimarães admitted that the fixture is expected to be highly challenging for the five-time world champions.
“I believe it will be a difficult match for the Brazilian team,” he said. “We hope to play our best football and secure a victory.”
The encounter is shaping up to be one of the standout fixtures of the opening round, with both teams carrying high expectations into the tournament.
