AmaZulu launch beadwork-inspired home and away kits for 2026-27 season

AmaZulu FC have unveiled new home and away kits for the 2026-27 campaign, with the designs drawing heavily on Zulu beadwork and the landscape of KwaZulu-Natal.

The Betway Premiership side, who finished fourth last season, revealed the fresh strips on Friday evening while in Johannesburg for a pre-season training camp.

Coach Arthur Zwane is overseeing a period of significant change at the Durban-based club, with seven new players brought in ahead of the new season. Omega Mdaka, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Mncedi Vandala, Keenan Phillips, Gape Moralo, Faveur Kouassi and Moses Shumah have all signed for Usuthu as they look to build on their 2025-26 campaign.

Club officials hope the combination of a refreshed squad and striking new kits will underline AmaZulu’s ambition to push on in 2026-27.

Beadwork at the heart of home design

The new home jersey has been launched under the theme “The Abstract Language of Zulu Beads”.

In unveiling the strip, the club said: “Introducing the 26/27 AmaZulu FC Home Jersey – ‘The Abstract Language of Zulu Beads.’ Every dot and line draws from ubuhlalu, traditional beadwork, reimagined for the pitch. Deep green, deep roots.”

The shirt retains AmaZulu’s traditional green colouring, with the club highlighting a design intended to pay tribute to Zulu cultural motifs through its patterning and detail.

Away kit pays tribute to KwaZulu-Natal

The away kit has been presented under the concept “The Enduring Land”, with the design said to reflect the province AmaZulu represent.

Describing the new change strip, the club stated: “‘The Enduring Land.’ KwaZulu-Natal’s landscape, hand-illustrated and worn with pride wherever we travel.”

The launch positions the away jersey as a visual representation of the region’s scenery, intended to be a symbol of identity for the team on their travels during the coming domestic season.

Preparation for new campaign

AmaZulu are using their Johannesburg training camp to integrate their seven new signings and prepare tactically and physically for the Betway Premiership season.

Under Zwane, who has overseen what the club describes as “immense changes” to the squad, AmaZulu will aim to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish and consolidate their status among the league’s leading sides.

The club’s kit unveiling forms part of their wider build-up to the new campaign, as Usuthu seek to generate momentum on and off the pitch before competitive action gets under way.
