Francesco Farioli has delivered a firm and public message over his future amid growing speculation linking him to a potential move to Chelsea, as the West London side continue their search for stability following a turbulent managerial cycle.

The Italian coach, currently in charge of FC Porto, addressed his future directly after guiding his team to a 2-1 victory away at Estrela da Amadora, using the moment to quiet mounting external noise.

Reports in England had suggested he was among the candidates being considered to replace Liam Rosenior following his brief and unsuccessful spell at the club, which ended after just 106 days.

Chelsea’s search for a new permanent manager has gathered pace in recent weeks, with several names under discussion, including Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, as the board assesses options ahead of a crucial summer rebuild.

The uncertainty comes after interim coach Calum McFarlane oversaw a narrow but important 1-0 FA Cup win over Leeds United, a result that secured a place in the final but did little to mask broader inconsistencies in the league.

“I am the coach of Porto and I am really happy to be here,” he said, before reinforcing his commitment when asked about a possible approach from Stamford Bridge: “Yeah, absolutely.”

The stance will be welcomed by Porto supporters, with the club closing in on a Primeira Liga title that would be their first since 2022.

For Farioli, it also represents a potential breakthrough achievement in senior management, strengthening his position rather than opening the door to immediate departure.
