Ghana defener David Oduro joins French club Annecy from Barcelona

Ghanaian defender David Oduro has joined French club FC Annecy as he continues his development in European football after leaving FC Barcelona.

The 20-year-old left-back has moved to the Haute-Savoie-based club following a two-year spell with Barcelona, where he continued his development with the reserve side.

Oduro began his career with Accra Lions and broke into the club’s first team during the 2022/23 season. He quickly established himself in the Ghana Premier League, making 50 appearances and scoring one goal.

His performances also earned him recognition at international level. Oduro has represented Ghana nine times, including eight appearances for the country’s youth teams and one senior cap.

On August 30, 2024, he joined Barcelona on a three-year contract, becoming the first Ghanaian player to sign for the Spanish giants directly from Ghana.

During the 2025/26 season, Oduro featured 23 times for Barcelona’s reserve team, scoring once and providing one assist.

Known for his pace and attacking ability, the left-back is comfortable combining with teammates and supporting offensive moves. His speed and ability to beat opponents allow him to contribute to attacks while providing width from the flank.

Oduro now joins Annecy with the aim of taking another step forward in his young career and establishing himself in French football.

His arrival adds further defensive depth to Annecy’s squad as the club strengthens its options ahead of the new campaign.
