Saint-Étienne are being linked with a move for USL Dunkerque central midfielder Antoine Sekongo, with the Ligue 2 side reportedly exploring a deal amid uncertainty over the player’s contract situation.

The 21-year-old, who represents both Mali and Ivory Coast at youth level, is currently valued at €3.00m according to Transfermarkt, and is emerging as one of Dunkerque’s most notable young assets. With no contract expiry date publicly listed and no recent renewal announced, speculation in France has suggested Sekongo could become available at a reduced fee or even as a potential future free agent if his situation is not resolved.

Sekongo, born on 13 June 2004 in Attécoubé, has established himself in central midfield for Dunkerque, wearing the number 8 shirt and operating primarily as a right-footed organiser in the middle of the pitch. He has been featuring in Ligue 2, where both Dunkerque and Saint-Étienne currently compete.

Recent Transfermarkt data, scraped on 14 April 2026, lists the move as a rumour with the probability of a transfer still marked as “?”, underlining that talks – if any – are at an early and speculative stage rather than an advanced negotiation. There is no indication yet of an agreement between the clubs or of personal terms being discussed.

No detailed performance breakdown is given in the latest dataset, but Sekongo’s regular involvement for Dunkerque in France’s second tier has contributed to his current €3.00m valuation and brought him to the attention of other Ligue 2 sides looking to add energy and progression in midfield.

If a switch to Saint-Étienne does materialise, it would represent a significant step in Sekongo’s career, offering a bigger platform in French football and the chance to enhance his reputation as a dual-nationality midfield prospect with long-term potential.
