FC Porto are being linked with a move for Zamalek centre-back Hossam Abdelmaguid as the Portuguese club assess a deal for the highly rated Egyptian defender.

The 24-year-old, who plays primarily as a right-footed centre-back and wears the No 5 shirt for Zamalek, is currently valued at around €1.80m, according to Transfermarkt. The reported interest comes from Portugal’s top flight, Liga Portugal, with Porto said to be monitoring his situation in Cairo as his contractual status remains unclear and with the possibility he could move on if his current deal runs down or expires.

Abdelmaguid, born on 30 April 2001 and standing at 1.94m, has emerged as one of the more imposing defensive prospects in the Egyptian Premier League. He is listed as a mainstay of Zamalek SC’s back line, operating in his natural role at centre-back. With no public information on when his contract with Zamalek is due to expire, speculation has grown around whether Porto might try to secure a low-cost transfer or position themselves should he become available as a free agent.

The latest rumour, dated 10 April 2026, carries an unspecified probability rating (“?”), underlining that talks, if any, are at an early stage rather than an advanced negotiation. Nevertheless, a move to a club of Porto’s stature, with regular European competition, would represent a significant step up from the Egyptian Premier League for the Egypt-born defender.

Recent domestic outings for Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League have reinforced Abdelmaguid’s reputation as a physically dominant presence at the back, contributing to clean sheets and disciplined defensive displays, although detailed match-by-match data, including opponents, dates and scorelines, has not been disclosed in the current report.

If Porto firm up their interest, a transfer could offer Abdelmaguid a major platform in European football and potentially redefine his market value, reputation and long-term career trajectory.
