Eintracht Frankfurt eye move for Joshua Quarshie
Eintracht Frankfurt have added Germany Under-21 defender Joshua Quarshie to their list of summer targets as they shape the squad for next season.
According to Bild, the 21-year-old centre-back is one of several options being monitored across multiple positions.
Quarshie only joined Southampton from Hoffenheim last summer for around 3.5 million euros but has struggled for game time in the Championship, featuring in roughly a quarter of the possible minutes and playing just one minute across the last twelve league matches. His situation is very different at international level, where he recently completed the full 90 minutes in back-to-back European Under-21 Championship qualifiers, partnering Finn Jeltsch of Stuttgart at the heart of Germany’s defence.
Standing at 1.96m, Quarshie offers an intriguing blend of height, pace and two-footedness. In 2024/25, he clocked a top speed of 37.04 km/h with Greuther Fürth, the fastest ever recorded in the 2. Bundesliga, and has already amassed 28 second-tier appearances, three DFB-Pokal games and a brief Bundesliga outing.
His profile appears well-suited to Frankfurt’s aggressive, high defensive line and he could become an alternative to Nnamdi Collins, whose future beyond this summer remains uncertain.
