Trabzonspor pursue Darwin Nunez deal after seeking Mohamed Salah’s advice

Trabzonspor are trying to complete a move for Al-Hilal striker Darwin Nunez after receiving a positive recommendation from Mohamed Salah, with the Turkish club targeting the Uruguay international’s arrival as early as next week.

The Turkish side have identified Nunez as a major attacking target after signing Egypt forward Salah. Trabzonspor are prepared to pursue the 27-year-old even if the proposed deal can only be completed on loan, as they look to strengthen their forward line.

According to Hassan Tuncel, a journalist who covers Trabzonspor, the club have submitted an offer to Al-Hilal worth €8m a year for Nunez’s services. The striker is understood to earn about €20m annually with the Saudi Pro League club.

The proposal would reportedly see Trabzonspor pay 40% of Nunez’s salary. The player is also keen to leave Al-Hilal in search of a fresh opportunity and a chance to revive his form and career.

Tuncel, speaking on HT Spor, said the offer is currently being considered by both Nunez and Al-Hilal. However, Al-Hilal want Trabzonspor to improve the financial terms, prompting the Turkish club to intensify their efforts to reach an agreement quickly.

Trabzonspor are aiming for Nunez to join them during the coming week, although the final details of the deal have yet to be settled.

The club’s management has also consulted Salah about the potential move. The Egypt captain gave a favourable recommendation for Trabzonspor to sign Nunez, adding further encouragement to the Turkish side’s pursuit of the striker.

Trabzonspor vice-president Ibrahim Sahinkaia has arranged a meeting with Al-Hilal officials this week. He is travelling to Saudi Arabia to discuss the remaining financial details and attempt to persuade the club to release their Uruguay forward.

The proposed meeting is expected to focus on the amount Trabzonspor would pay and the proportion of Nunez’s wages it would assume. Al-Hilal’s desire for improved financial compensation remains the principal obstacle in the negotiations.

Nunez, 27, made 24 appearances for Al-Hilal last season. He scored nine goals and provided five assists during that campaign.

The move would represent another significant addition to Trabzonspor’s squad after the arrival of Salah, while Nunez would be seeking a new stage in his career after one season with Al-Hilal.
