FIFA has officially sanctioned Ayoub Ouarghi’s switch of international allegiance from the Netherlands to Morocco, with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirming the development on Wednesday.

The ruling means the Feyenoord Rotterdam youngster is now immediately eligible to represent Morocco, marking another significant step in the federation’s ongoing effort to secure top dual-national talents.

Ouarghi, who previously featured for the Netherlands at youth level, is now set to link up with Morocco’s youth sides in upcoming international windows as part of the nation’s long-term football development strategy.

At just 18 years old, the attacking midfielder is already considered one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the Dutch system in recent years. Currently captaining Feyenoord’s U21 side, he has earned recognition for his technical ability and consistent influence in attacking areas.

Comfortable operating as a wide playmaker who can drift into central positions, Ouarghi’s style is defined by sharp vision and precise execution in the final third.

His decision to commit to Morocco reflects a broader approach by the federation, which has increasingly turned its attention to diaspora players developed in European academies. Ouarghi now joins a growing pool of Netherlands-trained prospects choosing to represent the North African nation, including talents such as Sami Bouhoudane and Oualid Agougil.

With all administrative processes now completed, Ouarghi becomes available for immediate selection and is expected to be gradually integrated into the national team setup.

The timing of the approval coincides with a period of transition within Moroccan football. Walid Regragui stepped down earlier this month, paving the way for Issame Charaï to assume responsibilities as preparations intensify for the upcoming global tournament.

Morocco, already confirmed as the first African nation to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will face a challenging group featuring Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti as they gear up for the competition scheduled for June.
