Maximilien Boussou: French centre-back linked with move to Czech side Loko Prague

Maximilien Boussou has completed a loan move from FC Vysocina Jihlava to FK Loko Prague, leaving the Czech second tier for a stint in the CFL. The 22-year-old centre-back joins Loko Prague on a temporary deal classified as a loan transfer, with his spell in the capital scheduled to run from 2026-03-11 until 2026-06-30, after which he is due to return to Jihlava.

The transfer keeps the France and Cote d’Ivoire dual national within Czech football but shifts him from the ChNL to the third-tier Ceska fotbalova liga. His parent club Jihlava retain his registration, and the deal structure indicates no permanent transfer fee has been agreed at this stage, only a loan arrangement. With his contract situation at Jihlava not specified beyond the end of this loan, there remains the medium‑term possibility that Boussou could move again or even approach free-agent status once his obligations there are fulfilled.

Boussou’s market value currently stands at €100k, reflecting a slight decrease from previous valuations of €150k during his time at Jihlava, but still marking him out as a young defender with recognised potential. The move to Loko Prague gives him a fresh platform to stabilise or improve that valuation by taking on regular minutes in the CFL and proving he can be a defensive leader at senior level.

The right-footed centre-back has followed a steady development pathway. After progressing through Rodez Aveyron Football’s youth ranks in France, stepping up from the U17s to the U19s and then into Rodez B, he left his home country to join Jihlava in Czech Republic. That switch from French football to the Czech game marked his first experience abroad and signalled a willingness to adapt to different tactical and physical demands.

Since arriving at Jihlava, Boussou has already experienced the loan circuit inside Czech football. He spent a spell at FC Slovan Velvary, initially leaving Jihlava on loan and later returning to his parent club when that agreement ended. Those moves exposed him to both second- and lower-tier domestic competition and allowed him to adjust to different systems and expectations, experience that should prove valuable at Loko Prague.

The latest loan to Loko Prague represents another step in that trajectory. He leaves a club competing in the ChNL for one operating in the CFL, but remains in a foreign league rather than returning to France or moving to Cote d’Ivoire. For a defender still only 22 and born on 08 Apr 2003, extended time abroad adds to his profile as a player comfortable outside his home environment, broadening his appeal to clubs that scout across central Europe.

Loko Prague gain a specialist centre-back by trade, formally listed as a defender – centre-back and naturally right-footed. His physical and positional qualities are seen as suited to anchoring a back line, and the CFL stage may allow him to showcase those strengths with less immediate pressure than in the second tier while still competing in a demanding senior environment.

For Boussou, the loan window between 2026-03-11 and 2026-06-30 will be critical. A strong run of form in Prague could lead Jihlava either to reintegrate him with a more prominent role or to listen to offers, potentially opening the door to a permanent move elsewhere. Conversely, if the loan does not translate into consistent performances, the prospect of him needing a new club once his commitments with Jihlava wind down — including the possibility of free agency — becomes more real.

Given his age, dual nationality and experience in both French and Czech systems, the spell at Loko Prague may prove decisive in shaping his next career step, determining whether he emerges from this loan as a rising defensive asset ready for a higher level or faces a more uncertain path once his current contractual ties run their course.
