Carlton Ubaezuonu: Centre-forward linked with move to Kings Lynn in England transfer switch

King’s Lynn Town have completed the signing of centre-forward Carlton Ubaezuonu from Scunthorpe United, adding the Ireland/Nigeria attacker to their National League North squad on a permanent deal. The move was finalised as a standard transfer from the National League side to the Norfolk club, with the switch registered to take effect from 10/03/2026. Contract terms were not disclosed, and no expiry date has been publicly listed for his deal at The Walks.

The transfer ends Ubaezuonu’s short spell at Scunthorpe, which he joined from Chorley FC ahead of the 24/25 season. His move to King’s Lynn also confirms that he will not be entering free agency immediately after leaving Scunthorpe, as he has been formally registered with his new club. The fee is undisclosed in the official documentation, and no market value has been recorded at the time of the move.

Ubaezuonu, 27, arrives as a recognised centre-forward and natural left-footer, wearing the No. 9 shirt for King’s Lynn Town. Born in Johannesburg, Gauteng, he represents both Ireland and Nigeria at nationality level and has built up experience across multiple tiers in Ireland and England, primarily in attacking roles through the middle.

The forward’s career began in the Dundalk FC Academy before he stepped up to Dundalk’s senior side. From there he went on loan to Galway United, later making that move permanent when Dundalk recalled him at the end of the temporary spell and then released him. Further stints followed at Longford Town and Athlone Town in the League of Ireland, before Ubaezuonu crossed into English football with Farsley Celtic.

A consistent presence in the lower divisions, he moved from Farsley Celtic to Chorley FC and then to Scunthorpe United, gradually building a profile as a mobile, hard-working attacker suited to the physical and tactical demands of National League and National League North football. The switch to King’s Lynn keeps him in England’s non-league structure, with his new club competing in the National League North.

For supporters in Ireland and Nigeria, the transfer underlines Ubaezuonu’s established status as an expatriate professional, operating outside his countries of nationality while continuing his career in England. At club level, King’s Lynn Town gain a forward who has accumulated experience across several teams and competitive environments, from the League of Ireland to multiple English non-league sides.

With his move from Scunthorpe to King’s Lynn now confirmed and registered from 10/03/2026, Ubaezuonu enters the next phase of his career aiming to convert that journeyman experience into consistent performances and goals, and to cement his reputation as a reliable centre-forward in the National League North.
