Faisu Sangare: Centre-forward linked with Curzon Ashton move in England

Curzon Ashton have completed the signing of Liberia- and England-qualified centre-forward Faisu Sangare on a free transfer from his previous status as a free agent, adding the 23-year-old to their attacking options in the National League North. The move is registered as effective from 2026-03-06, with Sangare’s contract at the Tameside club currently recorded as running until null.

Sangare arrives at Curzon Ashton after a brief spell without a club, having left US side North Texas SC earlier in the same 2025–26 campaign. His switch back to England involves no transfer fee, with the deal listed at an estimated cost of None and no market value recorded (None) at the time of the move. The transfer places him immediately into contention for Curzon Ashton’s forward line, where his primary role is as a centre-forward.

Born in Monrovia and holding both Liberian and English nationality, Sangare’s career has largely unfolded in the English system, punctuated by his recent stint in the United States. Before joining Curzon Ashton, he spent the early months of 2026 unattached following his departure from North Texas SC, whom he had joined from Buxton FC in April 2025. That move to the MLS NEXT Pro side marked his first venture into North American football after a series of steps through the English non-league and academy structure.

Sangare’s recent club journey underlines a career defined by short, sharp moves. In early 2025 he signed for Buxton FC from free-agent status, having previously featured for FC United of Manchester. His time at FC United came after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers’ youth setup, where he progressed from Wolves Youth to the U18s and then to the U21 side before being released in 2022. Across these clubs he has been consistently deployed through the middle as an attacking focal point, operating as an out-and-out centre-forward and favouring his right foot.

At 1.86 m tall, Sangare offers Curzon Ashton a physically imposing presence up front, with experience in both development football at a Premier League club and in various tiers of the English non-league pyramid. The move also reinforces a familiar pattern in his career: alternating between being under contract and spells as a free agent. Prior to this latest agreement with Curzon Ashton, he had already twice moved from “Without Club” status back into competitive football, first with FC United of Manchester in 2023 and later with Buxton FC in 2025.

While Curzon Ashton currently list him as their player with shirt number 28, there is no disclosed buy-out clause, salary figure, or precise contractual end date in the available data. What is clear is that Sangare now has another opportunity to re-establish himself in England’s National League North, a step above simple reserve or academy competition and one that could be pivotal for the next phase of his career.

If he can translate his training-ground promise and prior development at Wolverhampton Wanderers into consistent performances for Curzon Ashton, this confirmed free transfer could yet prove a key moment in reshaping his trajectory and consolidating his reputation across both his adopted English base and his country of birth, Liberia.
